2 x 3 Stamp Stretch | Art Journal Layout

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

We are having a blog hop today showing you how to stretch your 2 x 3 stamps from the Monthly Stamp Club Subscription. Today I'm using one of my favorite 2 x 3 stamps sets from the stamp club called Got Pumpkin to create this 6 x 6 art journal layout called Java.

To began my art journal I cut down some Canon XL watercolor paper. I smooched Spiced Marmalade and Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxides onto my media mat and spritzed it with water and just lightly pressed my watercolor paper into it. I dried it with my heat tool and repeated the process.

Next I added Fossilized Amber and Fired Brick Distress Oxides making sure to heat set between layers. I was absolutely loving the spots that were being created during this process.

Now I added Blueprint Sketch, that blue was like the icing on the cake to me! It was so beautiful over the other colors! I then ink blended around the sides of the watercolor paper with Macchiatto Surface Ink to give that warm coffee color. And then used a finger dauber to ink blend Gargolye Surface Ink on the edges to add a little more richness.

I ink splattered a little aged Mahogany onto the layout, and it reminded me of drips of coffee. I used a (never used) medicine cup and Walnut Stain Distress Oxide with a little water to create coffee rings and drips on the layout. The Cup of Thanks stamp set has coffee beans, so I used that to add texture along with a french script background stamp with Machiatto Surface Ink.

I stamped the coffee cup and heat embossed it Raven embossing powder. I colored the lid with Copic markers, and watercolored with Picket Fence Distress Ink.

I cut two tags from the Brutus Monroe Foundation Stitched Tag die, one with burlap and one with Surface Board. For the Surface board I heat embossed in Penny embossing powder some stripes from the Grunge Shapes stamp set. I adhered those to the layout with double sided tape and added a bow with a piece of twine. I ink the edges again with embossing ink and heat embossed Penny embossing powder around the entire layout.

For the word Java, I used Thickers chipboard and heat embossed those with Penny embossing power as well to keep with the layout and adhered the letters to the layout with Brutus Monroe craft glue. I then added some Acrylic bubbles for texture and interest.

Here's another look at my layout.

Hopefully this has given you some inspiration to give an art journal layout a try, I promise it's quite addicting!

And that's all for me today, remember this is part of a blog hop! Be sure to head over to the Brutus Monroe Blog where you can start at the beginning to see what each design team member has created for today's hop!
