Hello and Happy Tuesday Crafty Friends!
Today I want to show how to partially heat emboss the Cloud Background Stamp to create a scene. I didn't just want a sky scene today, I also wanted to have a grassy hill below for my balloon animals to fly over.
I was looking at my cloud background stamp thinking about how I could use it differently. And a light bulb came on! I did choose the larger portion of the clouds on the stamp, but the opposite side is perfect for a standard side card, I think I will try that next.
To begin the card I cut a out a 6 x 6 piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock. I chose the Bristol cardstock because I knew I would be doing some ink blending on the cardstock and I find this cardstock gives me the best results using Brutus Monroe Surface Inks and Ranger Distress Inks in which I've used both on this card. I placed the stamp in my stamp poistioner, used my embossing buddy on my cardstock to remove any static, and then inked up my stamp with Brutus Monroe embossing ink. I stamped onto the cardstock and repeated this process, I like to stamp it twice for good measure. Then I used Alabaster embossing powder and heat set it.
Next I began ink blending the sky with Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon Distress Ink. I spritzed a little water on the background to get the distressed look and buffed off any ink from the clouds with a paper towel.
For the grassy hill I used Brutus Monroe Jurassic and Cabbage Surface Inks using a stencil. You can create a hill using masking paper, the stencil isn't really needed. I started with Cabbage, from the bottom moving up. Then used the stencil with Jurassic to form the hills and add contrast and shading on the sides.
I colored the Balloon Animals with Copic markers and used masking paper over the heads and basket to color in the white space between them since the sky is blue so it would blend in.
I stamped the sentiment What's Up Dog? with Raven Detail Ink and cut it out with a banner die and popped it up on foam squares, I also popped up the two balloon animals up with foam squares and adhered the small balloon directly to the card using Brutus Monroe craft glue.
I added some Stickles to the drapes on the basket and Glass Slipper Bottle Cap Sequins around my card to finish it off. I also added Stickles on my sequins to add more shimmer.
And that completes my card for today!
